NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women’s tennis team (5-2) had its four-match win-streak snapped by the University of Virginia (4-3), a 2016 NCAA Elite Eight participant, by a 5-0 score on Saturday night in front of hundreds at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
NEXT UP FOR THE LADY TENNIS MONARCHS Old Dominion will wrap up the weekend on Sunday, Feb. 19 at 10:00 a.m. against the University of Pennsylvania (1-3) at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center. The Lady Monarchs will look to avenge their loss last year in Philly where the fell, 4-1. Admission for all is free.
Meet Penn: The University of Pennsylvania has started the season 1-3, with its only win coming against Temple. Penn started the season with losses to Georgia Tech and Kentucky, both coming during the ITA Kickoff Weekend. The Quakers fell to Georgia Tech and Kentucky 4-0 in both matches and then UVA on Saturday morning in Norfolk by a 4-3 score. In their win, the Quakers beat Temple 6-1, only dropping the No. 6 singles match. Penn will take on Virginia on Saturday before their match against the Lady Monarchs on Sunday.
