Six ODU Athletic Teams Notch Perfect APR Scores
By ODU Athletics
NORFOLK, Va. – For the third-straight year, six NCAA Division I Old Dominion University athletic programs recorded perfect single-year APR scores of 1000, as reported today by the NCAA. During the 2015-2016 year, Baseball, Women's Golf, Women's Lacrosse, Men's and Women's Swimming and Women's Tennis achieved perfect scores.
“We are very proud of what our young men and women continue to accomplish in the classroom. Every semester each team works hard to do better than the previous term,” said Ragean Hill, Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Services. “For 16 of our teams to have a four-year APR score of 950 or above is a testament to them setting and meeting their goals.”
In addition to the six teams that recorded perfect scores, three teams, Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball and Men's Tennis, were one point shy of a perfect single-year mark.
All 16 of the Monarchs' NCAA sports teams have a four-year APR score of 950 or above, 20 points higher then the NCAA minimum.
The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team's academic performance.
The 2016-17 APR scores will be announced in May of 2018.
