NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University Director of Athletics Dr. Wood Selig has announced the promotion of Ragean Hill to the role of Associate Athletic Director-Academic Support Services and Senior Woman Administrator.

“Ragean will act as a key decision maker on our senior athletics management team, focusing on Gender Equity and Title IX as well as overall student athlete welfare and academic support for all 550 ODU student-athletes,” Selig said. “Her experience as a former Division I student-athlete combined with her wealth of administrative knowledge makes her an ideal choice for Senior Women's Administrator/Associate Athletic Director for Old Dominion University.”

“I'd like to thank President Broderick and Dr. Selig for this opportunity,” Hill said.  “In my 17 months here at Old Dominion we've accomplished many of the academic goals set forth in our five-year plan.  I love working with our student-athletes and I'm excited about expanding my role with them and the athletic administration.”

Under Hill's guidance, ODU had 281 student-athletes on the Dean's List, which is 31.6 % of student-athletes and 56% recorded a 3.0 or higher. Six ODU Athletic Teams have a perfect APR score (Baseball, Women's Golf, Women's Lacrosse, Men's and Women's Swimming and Women's Tennis).

As an athletic department, the student-athletes recorded a 3.0 GPA for the year, while 88 student-athletes graduated.

“I am ecstatic for Ragean,” stated Randale Richmond, Senior Associate AD for Academics, Compliance and Student-Athlete Welfare.  “She's been spectacular in her oversight of our academic area and will now be in a position to positively impact the ODU community on an even broader scale.”

Hill came to Old Dominion in November 2015 after a stint as Director of Academics at the University of Arkansas.  She earned her Bachelor's Degree from Kansas State University in 2002 and received her Master's in Adult, Occupational and Continuing Education in 2004.

Hill takes over the SWA position from Deb Polca, who is retiring after 13 years in the position.
