By ODU Athletics

NORFOLK, Va. -- This year, the Old Dominion University Student-Athlete Development Department will be hosting a Career Combine on Tuesday, Nov. 7, at the Ted Constant Convocation Center in the Big Blue Room beginning at 6 p.m.

This competition-style career fair will give student-athletes the opportunity for professional development and to network with top local companies. The student-athletes will be evaluated on resumes, business attire and elevator speeches throughout the event. There will be a $50 fee for employers interested in this event. We want a diverse group of employers in order to represent each of our top majors for our student-athletes, therefore space will be limited per major.

We are looking to acquire employers from the following majors:

  • Criminal Justice
  • Engineering
  • Biology
  • Sport Management
  • Finance/Accounting
  • Business
  • Communications
  • Psychology
  • Health Services

Additionally, there will be a select group of student-athletes called “Professional Prospects” that can apply to participate in our Exclusive Career Combine Competition. This competition will take place preceding the larger Career Combine event. This group will be scored on their business attire, resume, elevator speech and interviewing skills.

A scouting committee of 10 employers with a variety of backgrounds will have the opportunity to have a place on the scouting committee that will score these Professional Prospects. These employers will receive a tour of ODU facilities along with the opportunity to meet some incredible and motivated student athletes.

Contact Lamarr Pottinger, Director of Student-Athlete Development, at odusdpride@gmail.com for more information or questions about the Career Combine.
