Monarchs Beat Mason 75-69 To Go 3-0 Against The A-10

FAIRFAX, VA-- Red-shirt sophomore guard Ambrose Mosley (Jacksonville, FL.) scored a career high tying 21 points to lead the Monarchs of Old Dominion (6-1) to a 75-69 victory at George Mason at the Patriot Center. ODU ended a six-game losing streak at the Patriot Center dating back to 2007 and are now 3-0 this season against the Atlantic-10 with wins over Mason, Richmond and VCU.

Senior forward Richard Ross (Wichita Falls, TX.) had a double-double with 13 points and a career high 14 rebounds along with four assists. Junior Trey Freeman (Virginia Beach, VA.) added 15 points with six assists and Aaron Bacote (Hampton, VA.) scored 13 points. ODU led, 36-32 at halftime as Freeman led with 10 points and Bacote with eight. ODU shot .520 (12-23) from the floor, but George Mason was shooting .560 (14-25).

In the second half the game was tied nine times, the last with 3:52 remaining at 60-60 after a free throw by Richard Ross. Marquis Moore then hits two free throws to put the Patriots up, 62-60. Ambrose Mosley would go on an 8-0 run starting with a three-pointer to put the Monarchs back up for good, then hit two more free throws with 1:55 to give ODU a 65-62 lead. Mosley finished the run with another trey for a six-point lead, 68-62 with 1:10 left.

After two Marquis Moore free throws to cut the lead to 68-64, the Monarchs would finish the game knocking down seven-of-eight free throws in the final 35 seconds for the victory.

ODU would finish the game outrebounding the taller Patriots, 32-28 and hitting 20-23 (.870) free throws. Mason shot .463 (25-54) from the field as well as 17 assists. In haulinig down 15 offensive rebounds, ODU outscored Mason 20-10 in second chance points. Marquise Moore led Mason with 22 points.

ODU breaks for exams until Dec. 14th when they host North Carolina A&T.
