MADRID, Spain – The Old Dominion men’s basketball team fell to the Madrid All-Stars by a 65-64 score in its first of four games during the Spain trip on Thursday night. Brandan Stith paced the Monarchs with 14 points (6-11 FG) and nine rebounds.
Despite trailing by 15 points at half, ODU fought its way back into the ballgame, but Zoran Talley’s half-court shot to end the game would not go, lifting the Madrid All-Stars to a narrow one-point victory.
Jordan Baker finished the contest with 12 points on 4-5 shooting from deep. B.J. Stith went for nine points and six rebounds, while Zoran Talley followed with eight points to compliment seven boards. Ahmad Caver chipped in seven points and three rebounds, while Denzell Taylor tied a team-high with nine rebounds.
After the first quarter (10 minutes), ODU trailed 18-5. The Madrid All-Stars extended its lead to 33-18 by halftime.
The Monarchs outscored Madrid 24-14 in the next 10 minutes, to cut their deficit to 47-42 after the third quarter, going a perfect 3-3 from three-point range to get back into the game.

Old Dominion will play its second of four games in Spain on Saturday, Aug. 20th.
