Field Hockey Moves Up To No. 7

NORFOLK, Va. -- After handing the then fourth-ranked Duke Blue Devils a 5-2 loss, the Old Dominion field hockey team moved up two spots in the STX/NFHCA Poll to No. 7. The Lady Monarchs currently hold a 4-4 record, with all four losses coming to Top 10 teams by a goal.

Ten Old Dominion opponents appear in the Top 20 of this week's poll including Saturday's opponent, #16 Richmond. Five opponents make appearances in the Top 10 including rematches with #2 Maryland, #3 North Carolina, and #5 Duke. Other upcoming ranked opposition including #12 Northeastern, #19 James Madison, and #20 William & Mary.

In the national stats also released this week, junior Caroline Nichols (Va. Beach, Va.) continues to be ranked in the assists category. Nichols is currently tied for eighth in assists (6) and tied for 17th in assists per game (0.75).

The Lady Monarch field hockey team has one more road game before returning home, traveling to #16 Richmond on Saturday, September 24th. ODU returns home to open the CAA slate taking on Drexel at Foreman Field on Sunday, September 25th.
