Bucknell Defeats ODU, 83-82 in Double Overtime

LEWISBURG, PA.-- Justin Castleberry's layup with 16 seconds left in the second overtime period lifted the Bison of Bucknell (1-3) to a 83-82 double overtime win over Old Dominion University (1-2) Tuesday night.

ODU was led by Gerald Lee(Finland) with a career high 26 points along with seven rebounds, followed by Red-shirt sophomore forward Frank Hassell (Chesapeake, Va.)with a career high 20 points and game high 11 rebounds. 16 of Hassell's points came in the second half.

Bucknell jumped out to a 37-29 halftime lead, as Justin Caslteberry scored 14 and Patrick Behan added ten for the Bison. In the second half, ODU went on a 19-11 run and tied the game at 48 with 12:52 Let in regulation on a jumper by Hassell. The game was tied four more times in the second half. Hassell Hit one of two free throws with 37 seconds left in the regulation to send the game into overtime.

In the first overtime, Ben Finney hit a free throw, Jonathan Adams nailed a trey and Gerald Lee hit A free throw to send it to the second overtime period tied at 74.

In the second extra period, Frank Hassell put ODU up three, 82-79 with 1:48 left. Justin Castleberry hit two free throws to cut it to 82-81 with 1:26 left. After a couple of ODU misses, Castleberry hit a layup with 16 seconds left to put the Bison up 83-82. After a timeout The Monarchs had a final shot and Jonathan Adams jumper rimmed out.

ODU shot .370(27-73) from the floor, while Bucknell was at .464 (32-69). Justin Castleberry led Bucknell with 31 points. Patrick Behan added 16 points with eight rebounds, while Darryl Shazier scored 14 points with nine boards, and Bryan Coahen 12 points and nine rebounds. Tonight's game was Bucknell's third straight overtime game. Bucknell outrebouned ODU, 45-42.

Kent Bazemore scored 10 points with four assists for ODU, while Ben Finney scored five points And hauled down nine rebounds. Sophomore point guard Darius James played a career high 44 Minutes with out a turnover and six assists.
