2013 NCAA DI Men's Swimming Championships Psych Sheet
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The first of three days for the 2013 NCAA Division I Men's Swimming Championships kicked off this morning at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind. Over the next three days, Old Dominion University's very own, Sidni Hoxha will be competing in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle events.
Today, Hoxha swam the 50 free and finished the preliminaries in 18th place with a time of 19.67. 19.67 is just seven hundredths of a second shy of Hoxha's own school record that he set at the preliminaries of the CAA Championships a couple weeks ago.
A total of 44 student-athletes competed in the 50 free preliminaries. However, only 16 swimmers advanced to the finals tonight and Hoxha came-up a mere three hundredths of a second shy. Joao De Lucca (Louisville) and Anthony Cox (California) both finished at the 19.64 mark, finishing in 16th and 17th, respectively. Hoxha and Cox will be the only two alternates for tonight's 50 free final.
Hoxha will be back in the pool tomorrow at 11 a.m., when he will be competing in the 200 freestyle preliminaries. On Saturday morning, Hoxha will also swim the 100 free.
