NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion University swimming and diving team their 2013-14 schedule on Tuesday, head coach Carol Withus announced.
“The coaching staff and team are very excited to jump into our first season as a member of C-USA,” Withus said. “We have a large talented group of incoming swimmers and divers joining a strong group of returning athletes and we look forward to training and racing together as Monarchs as we prepare for a fast championship season in the spring.”
The schedule is highlighted by three home meets and events at Towson, Charlotte and the first time ever the Monarchs will compete at the Conference USA swimming and diving championships that are held in Atlanta, Ga.
ODU starts the year with the annual intrasquad match on Sept. 14. The women’s squad will head to Richmond on Oct. 11-12 to face the Spiders and UNCW. After two weeks, the full Monarchs squad will head to Towson on Oct. 26.
The first of two home events will take place on Nov. 2 when ODU hosts UMBC. The Monarchs will host St. Andrews and Campbell the following Saturday before heading to Radford the next weekend to compete in a women’s only tri-meet against Radford and Marshall.
The end of November will feature ODU competing in the Charlotte Nike Cup Invitational before ending the fall semester at the USA National Championships hosted in Knoxville, Tenn.
After Christmas break, the Monarchs host East Carolina on Jan. 18 in their final home match of the year.
The following weekend ODU heads to William and Mary before competing in the Conference USA Championships for the first time.
