CHAPEL HILL, NC. - The No. 15 Old Dominion field hockey team lost 3-0 Friday night to No. 1 North Carolina at the Francis E. Henry Stadium.

The Lady Monarchs (1-4) trailed 2-0 into the first half and were unable to rebound from the slow start. Goalkeeper Megan Hept made 7 saves for ODU.

"We dug ourselves a hole in the first half," coach Andrew Griffiths said. "In the second half we played with more confidence and had some good stretches of play. We created good scoring chances. But we were chasing the game at that point."

Offensively, North Carolina (5-0) junior Loren Shealy and sophomore Emma Bozek both tallied goals for the Tar Heels. UNC notched two goals in the first 10 minutes of action vs. ODU. Bozek scored the first two goals in the first half. Shealy would tally a goal in the second half.

ODU continues a tough road weekend against No. 9 Duke Sunday in Durham, N.C at 1 p.m.
