Moderator: Good afternoon everyone and welcome to today's chat with head football coach Bobby Wilder.
Coach Bobby Wilder: Frank, We are considering 6 p.m. start times in September and October and afternoon games in November.
Coach Bobby Wilder: After researching Coastal Carolina and South Florida, we belieate the best way to allocate our scholarships is through a five-year plan.
Coach Bobby Wilder: Our next scheduled tryout wil be Septmeber of 2008 for full-time students with a minimum of two years of eligibility remaining.
Coach Bobby Wilder: We are not allowed to compete versus outside competition, as it would count as a year of eligibility for our players.
Coach Bobby Wilder: James, we will have regular practices next year. We will do everything the same as every other Division I program except play outside competition on Saturdays.
Coach Bobby Wilder: Cletis, we will run the spread offensive similar to Florida and West Virginia. We will run a multiple defensive scheme that will feature a zone fire pressure package.
Coach Bobby Wilder: Ken, we will begin competing in the CAA in 2009.
Coach Bobby Wilder: Paula, we are hoping to have the schedule done sometime in the near future. We are negotiating with a number of schools who are in the Football Championship Subdivision. We would like to play a predominately I-AA schedule so that we are playoff eligible in 2009.
Coach Bobby Wilder: Phil, The closest league to the CAA is the Gateway Conference. Those two conferences are considered to be the best in the country.
Coach Bobby Wilder: James, we anticipate having ODU football jerseys available in the summer.
Coach Bobby Wilder: Ashley, our goal for the 2009 season is to have 15 Division I-A and/or junior college transfers who will be on our team. These young men will have to good people, good athletes and good students.
Coach Bobby Wilder: Our staff has been very impressed with the effort put forth by the current students at ODU. Our workouts will continue through the beginning of April and at that time we will detrmine how many students will be invited back for preseason camp.
Coach Bobby Wilder: Dr. Hughes, we've contacted 120 schools within an 8-hour radius of ODU. We are currently negotiating with a number of schools based on common dates and availability over the next five seasons.
Coach Bobby Wilder: GREAT QUESTIONS MIKE! We plan on having the tailgate party again this year. The 3,500 people who attended last fall brought a lot of energy to ODU football. We plan on having at least two scrimmages this fall that are open to the public. We know that our fans need to practice their tailgating.
Coach Bobby Wilder: LJ, you can get our contact information off of the ODU football website. If you're interested in being a student-athlete at ODU, send your highlight DVD

Coach Bobby Wilder: Kevin, our goal is to play at least six home games per year. When we join the CAA in 2011 each team is automatically scheduled four home and four away games. Our goal will be t have two of the three nonconference games at ODU.
Coach Bobby Wilder: Our goal is to go to camp with a minimum of 60 players in the fall of 2008.
Coach Bobby Wilder: The football staff would like thank the many people behind this incredible surge behond football at ODU. With season ticket sales fastly approaching 10,000 it is obvious to us that the excitement is real! We want our many fans to know that we would like for them to be involved throughout the process. We will be announcing in the near future, our preseason and fall practice schedule. A number of our practices will be open to the public and will be interactive.
Moderator: Everyone, thank you again for your questions and your interest in ODU football.
