Defensive Backs Coach

Old Dominion University, a member of the Colonial Athletic Association, is seeking applications for the position of Defensive Backs Coach. The successful candidate will possess extensive knowledge of defensive back techniques and fundamentals, recruit talented student athletes, and assume responsibility for the academic, athletic and social success of assigned players. They will also assist with fund raising and community service initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications: A master's degree from an accredited institution or a bachelor's degree plus significant experience; comparable years of coaching experience at the Division I level. Knowledge of NCAA Division I rules and regulations. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and insurable driving record.

ODU Sports Properties, the exclusive marketing and multi-media rights partner of Old Dominion University Athletics and a division of CBS Collegiate Sports Properties, is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the following position:

Account Executive, Sales

This position is located in Norfolk, Virginia and will be filled immediately. Minimum of one year work experience in a sales role is preferred.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Report directly to the General Manager of ODU Sports Properties
  • Conduct daily client and business operations according to the approved business plan
  • Identify potential partners, including heavy cold calling of prospects
  • Prospect, develop and close new sponsorship business
  • Prepare sales packages and presentation materials for client meetings and presentation
  • Work with Client Services on client contract fulfillment, execution and review
  • Develop key marketing objectives with clients
  • Create and implement traffic building promotions with clients
  • Entertain and cultivate partners in various settings
  • Regional travel for client presentations or cultivation
  • Attend Football game days, evening athletic events and coach's radio shows and assist with client promotions and entertainment
  • Complete all necessary paperwork and reports in the allotted time frame
  • Represent CBS Collegiate Sports Properties and ODU Sports Properties in a professional manner on a daily basis

A BA or BS degree is required. Sales experience in media, sports sponsorship or entertainment field is preferred. Knowledge of the Hampton Roads Virginia market is also preferred. Outstanding communication and organizational skills are essential for interaction internally and with clients on a daily basis.

Athletic Trainer Position

Qualifications: Old Dominion University seeks applicants for full-time, 12 month, Assistant Athletic Trainer. Master's degree required, current NATA-BOC certification required, demonstration of clinical supervision of athletic training students required, graduate of CAHEP or CAATE undergraduate athletic training program or NATA approved graduate program required, D-I collegiate athletic training experience beyond undergraduate level preferred, current American Red Cross or American Heart Association CPR/AED instructor status preferred.

Assistant Men's and Women's Sailing Coach

Old Dominion University invites applications for the position of Assistant Men's and Women's Sailing Coach, a full time 12 month, faculty-administration position. This salaried position includes a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities include assisting the Head Coach in administrating, coaching, and advising the varsity sailing program. To include: on-the-water coaching, team travel administration, budget oversight, practice/training organization, regatta management, recruitment of qualified student-athletes, monitoring the academic progress of team members, knowledge of NCAA and ICSA rules, sailing instruction, fleet management, fund-raising and promotion of the sailing program within the community.

Qualifications: Master's degree or bachelor's with equivalent experience, collegiate sailing experience (athlete/coach) required. Sailing coaching or teaching experience, collegiate experience (athlete/coach) preferred, USSA Level 2, or equivalent, preferred; demonstrated advanced sailing skills; effective organizational, interpersonal and communication skills required. Previous fund-raising or marketing experience is advantageous. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
