ANNAPOLIS, MD -- The Old Dominion sailing team rebounded this weekend with an 8th place showing at the Navy Women's Intersectional. Cara DiSanti and Alissa Ayres finished 10th in the A division and Katrina Williams and Elyssa Albert finished 9th in the B division. Williams and Albert won one heat and finished in the top three in four heats.
With sunny skies and 50 degree temperature, the water was perfect for sailing in Maryland. The College of Charleston's women's team won the event with the host Navy coming in second. The Monarchs finished in the top ten in 23 of the 36 heats and outraced the bottom half of the regatta by a significant margin.
The A division boats were evenly matched with the top boat, Stanford, finished with 88 points in the 18 races. It was the B division that helped the top 8 teams distance from the rest of the pack. Old Dominion's B division boat was in the top ten in eight straight races and finished tallying 147 points.

REGATTA HIGHLIGHTS:
Saturday: In the morning winds were 5-12 kts. from the S-SW. Racing was in
the river for the first 6 races. After a lunch break the course was moved
out to Triton Point in a building southwest breeze. The breeze toped 20kts
in the afternoon Races. There were 4 protest filed, resulting in two boats
getting redress, one protes being disallowed and the last will be heard
on Sunday. It was a full day of racing!
Sunday: The racing on sunday was even better! Sunny sky's 50 degrees and
10- 12 kts right down the river. It was a breezy morning from the NW and
tappered down to 10 kts still from the NW. The regatta was finished with
trapizoid courses. There were no protest filed and we were done with the
full 18 races by 1:30 pm.

Parker Garret USNA '01 for being a great PRO. Also thanks to our judges.
