ODU Finishes 16th In Admiral's Cup

KINGS POINT, NY -- Freshman Kyle Rogachenko cruised to a fourth place finish in C division at the Admiral's Cup this weekend to help ODU finish 16th overall. Difficult conditions limited racing to just 13 races in each division. Rogachenko finished out of the top five in just three of the 13 races in C division. He won one race and finished among the top three boats in six races. In A division racing, Wade Schon and Mike Collins skippered Wilson Stout to a 19th place finish. Sophomore Mike Brown was the Monarch sailor in B division. He finished 15th with one top five finish. Final Results: Admiral's Cup
REGATTA HIGHLIGHTS: Sat: Racing began promptly this morning in an 8-12 knot Northwesterly which slowly died to 3-6 knots throughout the day, with upwind current building/being more of a factor throughout the day as well. Courses were modified trapezoids running about 18 minutes in the breeze and 25-30 in the light air. A division sailed 8 races in 420's before rotating with B into FJ's. A short lunch break was enjoyed after six races. Zero protests, Zero Breakdowns minus one sinking launch that had to get emergency hauled. (Everyone was very safe.) Sun: Racing resumed with Race 11C starting at 9:40am in an extremely shifty northeasterly breeze at 5-15 knots. Racing continued until a series of large wind shifts that caused delays. Racing was called at 1230 with poor sailing conditions and heavy rain which proved to be a good move as it is now blowing 25 knots and gusting higher at 2:30pm A division = 13 Races B division = 13 Races C division = 13 Races
