Sailors Finish Sixth At Co-Ed Dinghy Nationals

AUSTIN, TX--The Old Dominion University sailing squad finished sixth with 266 total points after 36 races in the ICSA/Gill North American Collegiate Co-Ed Dinghy National championships being held at the Austin Yacht Club on Lake Travis. Hobart-William Smith captured the national title with 197 points. The Monarchs A Division boat sailed by Anna Tunnicliffe (Perrysburg, OH.), Mike Smith (Newport News, VA.) and Emily Bartlett (Annapolis MD.) placed sixth with 125 points. The Monarchs had one first in six races today. Hawaii's Bryan Lake and Jennifer Warnock captured the A division title with 82 points. The Monarchs B Division boat of Bill Berg (Longwood, FL.), Charles Higgins (Arlington, TX.), Jen Adams (Dumfries, VA.), and Ryan Kozoriz (Yorktown, VA.) moved up three spots to finish seventh with 141 points. They scored a third, a fourth and a fifth today in six races. ODU qualified for three of the possible six national championships this year, winning the women's singlehanded (Anna Tunnicliffe) in the fall, and placing fourth in the women's championships last week.
