Old Dominion Sailing Wins Hampton Bay Days Regatta
Oct. 14, 2008 HAMPTON, Va. -- The ODU sailing team won both divisions and came away with the overall win at the Hampton Bay Days Regatta this weekend. Gavin Rudolph and Jessica Milligan sailed in B division, finishing either first or second in all 12 races, finishing with 15 total points. In A division, Patty O'Bryan and Rachel Jacobs were nearly as good, also sealing up the division win with seven wins of their own. Rudolph and Milligan won nine of their 12 races in B division, finishing second in the three other races. The 15 points won the division by eight ahead of Fordham and no one else was even close. O'Bryan and Jacobs finished with 24 points, including seven wins. The pair also finished second twice, third once, and fourth once. They posted a regatta-low sixth in the third race of the event, but still managed to win the division by eight points. The team total of 39 points in 12 races is just 15 shy of the best possible finish and was enough to win handily, by 16 points. Hampton Bay Days Final Results: 1. Old Dominion 24 15 39 2.
