MONARCH MEDIA -- ODU SAILING SPRING PREVIEW -- 2013

NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion University sailing team opens their spring slate this weekend by hosting the ODU Quad and heading down to Charleston, S.C. for the Charleston Spring Invitational.

The ODU Quad will feature several MAISA teams that ODU will see throughout the spring season in a scrimmage scenario in Norfolk on Saturday and Sunday.

Meanwhile, several members of the team will split off and head south to take part in the Charleston Spring Invitational hosted by the College of Charleston.

ODU is coming off a sixth place finish at the Rose Browl Regatta to kick off 2013 in Long Beach, Calif. as the Monarchs' A-Division tandem of senior skipper and team captain Dillon Paiva along with junior crew and California native Alexa Cavalieri finished eighth with a score of 86.

Freshman skipper Esteban Forrer continued his stellar rookie campaign, as alongside junior crew Julia Wiesner, the duo took second in the B-Division race with a score of 31.
