Former Old Dominion University sailor Charlie Ogletree teamed with John Lovell of New Orleans to earn the duo's third Olympic berth by winning the Tornado class trials Sunday.

The pair finished first in nine of the first 13 races and finished with 14 points, 10 ahead of Lars Guck and Jonathan Farrar. Guck also finished second to Lovell and Ogletree when they won the Tornado class trials in 1996 and 2000.

ODU's Anna Tunnicliffe placed fourth in the Europe class, won by Meg Gaillard, who clinched with two races remaining.

Former Monarchs Sally Barkow and Debbie Capozzi, along with Carrie Howe, also failed in their Olympic bid, finishing third in the Yngling class.

Only the winners in each class qualified for the summer Olympics in Athens, Greece.
