NORFOLK, VA - The Old Dominion University sailing team will split up to compete in two races this weekend, the Bob Bavier, and Washington College Team Races.

Last year ODU finished fourth at the Bavier Team Race with an 8-9 record. The last time the Monarchs competed in the Washington College Team Race was also last year; they placed sixth at the event with a 1-6 record.

Sailing for the Monarchs at the Bavier race will be Charles Higgins with crew Jennifer Adams, David Tunnicliffe with Jaclyn Finney, and Bobby Noonan with Alissa Ayers. Michael Collins and Ryan Kozoriz will travel as alternates.

Competing at Washington College for Old Dominion will be Wade Schon, who returns to the team this spring after spending a semester studying abroad, with spring transfer walk-on Jenica Ryan. Also competing will be Gillen Elder with Lisa Shapiro, and Michael Brown with Michael Smith.

The forecast for this weekend in Charleston, South Carolina, the host location for the Bob Bavier Race, calls for a slight chance of thunderstorms with a 5-10 MPH breeze all weekend out of the southeast. Chestertown, Maryland, the host location for the Washington College Race, is predicted to have strong 15-25 MPH winds out of the southwest
