Norfolk, VA-The Old Dominion University coed sailing team has earned the #1 spot in the national rankings in the latest poll released by Sailing World magazine. The Monarchs leaped four spots in the newest poll, ahead of Dartmouth, Harvard, Tufts and St. Mary's (MD).

The coed team has been on a tear as of late, winning the Thompson Trophy regatta and finishing second at the America Trophy to qualify for the ICSA Coed Dinghy Championship.

The ODU women's sailing squad is ranked seventh in the latest poll. Jointly, the two teams have qualified for three national championship competitions this spring and six for the year.
