OLYMPIC SAILING UPDATE: Team USA Advances With Wins Over Sweden and Great Britain

WEYMOUTH, UK - Former Old Dominion University sailing standouts Anna Tunnicliffe and Debbie Capozzi guided the United States to a pair of victories on Saturday over Sweden and Great Britain to finish in a tie for second place at the conclusion of round robin action in the Elliott 6m women's match racing.
The United States, with Tunnicliffe at skipper paired with Capozzi and Molly O'Bryan Vandemoer at crew defeated Sweden, with skipper Anna Kjellberg and crew Malin Kallstrom and Lotta Harrysson with relative ease by splits of 0:03, 0:04, 0:10 and finally 0:16.
In their second match of the day, the U.S. faced host Great Britain and again had no problem winning by splits of 0:08, 0:07, 0:05 and 0:04 against the British skipper of Lucy MacGregor and crew Annie Lush and Kate MacGregor.
The top eight teams from round robin action have advance to the knockout stage where the crews race one another. The first crew to win three points, wins each sderies of races at that point to advance. Quarterfinal action takes place in Weymouth on Aug. 7-8.
