NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion University sailing team posted another weekend of solid results as the women finished first at the Mrs. Hurst Bowl and the co-ed squad placed 11th at the Nevins Trophy Regatta.

The women bested a 17-team field at the Mrs. Hurst Bowl, compiling 120 points. Rhode Island finished four points back in second with Brown and Dartmouth garnering third and fourth, respectively.

Stephanie Roble and Ashley Brusso led the way for the Lady Monarchs and new assistant coach Jeanne Walker, a `96 graduate of ODU who was coaching the women's team for the first time. The duo of Roble and Brusso finished third in the A Division, while Morgan Wilson and Arianna Baker claimed fifth in the B Divison.

The two teams combined to win four races and post 11 Top 5 finishes. The Lady Monarchs impressed in the final race of each division, with Roble and Brusso winning the final race and Wilson and Baker placing third.

At the Nevins Trophy Regatta, ODU finished 11th in a 20-team field. Teammates Alan Alkins and Arielle Darrow ended the weekend 13th in the A Division and Zach Kelchner and Wilson Stout placed 15th in the B Division. In the singlehanded races, John Shockey was impressive, ending the weekend in eighth place.

Each division had 13 races and the Monarchs netted seven Top 5 finishes. Alkins and Darrow won the second race in the A Division and they placed second in the eighth race. Shockey had five Top 5 results, including a second place finish in the third race.
