Thorvaldsen Seventh at MAISA Laser Qualifying

ANNAPOLIS, MD (Sept. 24, 2000) -- The Old Dominion University sailing team won the MAISA Sloop Eliminations today at the U.S. Naval Academy. Adam Burns (Youngstown, NY), Brad Funk (Harbor Bluffs, FL), Sally Barkow (Nashotah, WI) and Jessica Simpson (Ontario, Canada) have advanced to the MAISA District Sloop Championships, where the top two teams qualify for nationals.

At the MAISA Laser Qualifying, where the top four advance, junior Ryan Thorvaldsen (Sayville, NY) narrowly missed qualifying for the MAISA District Championships with a seventh-place finish. Also placing for the Monarchs were Jack Kerr (Seattle, WA), Adam Dunki-Jacobs (Mason, OH), and Teddy Anderson (Norwalk, CT). Danny Pletsch of St. Mary's won the event with a score of 20.
