NORFOLK, VA -- Head Coach Mitch Brindley has been directly involved in obtaining nine of Old Dominion's 15 sailing national championships. This weekend, he and two women on his sailing team will try to make it an even ten. Two Lady Monarch sailors will try to capture the sailing team's 16th National Title at the Inter-collegiate Sailing Association's Women's Singlehanded Championship.

Senior Cara DiSanti and freshman Katrina Williams both qualified for this weekends event on October 1-2 with Top 5 performances. DiSanti (148 pts) finished right behind Williams (135) for a 4th and 5th place showing at the MAISA Singlehanded Women's Championship.

Old Dominion is well represented at the National Championship with two sailors of 16 competitors. Only Yale, with three, has more sailors competing for the national title. Coach Brindley will watch as for the fifth time in six years he and his sailing team will have a chance to win another national title.

The race will be held at Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island starting on Friday, November 3. The three-day event welcomes the best 16 sailors in the country for a chance to win the coveted Janet Lutz trophy.
