NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion University men’s swimming and diving team lost to East Carolina University 170-130. The Lady Monarchs defeated Campbell University 188-96, but lost to ECU 190-107.

Andrew Crockett, Jason Haigh, Vitor Sa and Sidni Hoxha placed first in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:34.67.

Hoxha also won three individual races: the 50-yard freestyle (20.80), the 100-yard freestyle (45.97) and the 200-yard freestyle (1:42.89).

Crockett and Sa were joined by Ben Hansen and Ben Leach in the 400-yard freestyle relay, in which they took second place with a time of 3:10.60. Crockett would also go on to win the 100-yard backstroke (52.60) and took second in the 200-yard backstroke (1:56.06).

Haigh also placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke (59.55) and third in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:10.61). Edward Hubert finished just ahead of Haigh in the 200-yard breaststroke and finished in second place with a time 2:10.37.

Reed Mathews won the 200-yard butterfly (1:52.40) for the Monarchs, while Francisco Byrne placed second (1:53.56). Byrne finished first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 51.33. Vitor Sa finished just behind Byrne in second place in the 100-yard butterfly (51.78).

Newcomer Hector Tricas placed second in the 1000-yard freestyle race (9:38.75), while his teammate Bernardo Figueredo finished in third place with a time of 9:48.81. Tricas would also place third in the 500-yard freestyle (4:42.89).

Carter Watson placed third in the 200-yard IM race with a time of 1:56.62.

The Lady Monarchs received strong performances from a handful of their swimmers. Kimberley Rashleigh won the 200-yard backstroke (2:04.37) and the 200-yard IM (2:07.67). Rashleigh placed second in the 100-yard backstroke (58.27). Rashleigh also finished first in the 400-yard freestyle relay, along with Savannah Bowers, Ashley Luchsinger and Morgan Johnson. An ODU team consisting of Jessica Hubert, Abby Vance, Mackenzie Payment and newcomer Juliana Santos finished in second place in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:39.55).

Yesim Giresunlu won the 500-yard freestyle race (5:02.74) and placed second in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:16.65).

Jessica Hubert won the 100-yard butterfly (56.98), while teammate Ashley Luchsinger finished just behind Hubert in third place with a time of 58.71. Hubert also finished in second place in the 200-yard butterfly race (2:02.90).

Morgan Johnson had a pair of third place finishes in the 100-yard freestyle (54.11) and the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.05).

Newcomer Juliana Santos also placed third in the 50-yard freestyle race with a time of 24.88.

Old Dominion will be back in the water on Jan. 26 against William and Mary in Norfolk, Va. The meet will be senior day for ODU, as this will be the last home meet for eight different Monarchs/Lady Monarchs. The senior’s ceremony is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m., while the meet will start at 1 p.m.
