Norfolk, Va. - The Old Dominion University men's and women's swimming and diving teams will be hosting their 2nd Annual Five Mile Swim-A-Thon on Saturday, October 20, 2012. Activities are set to begin in the morning at the J.C. "Scrap" Chandler Pool in the Student Recreation Center.

All of the swimmers and divers have been diligently working on getting sponsors for this event. Each swimmer pledged to swim five miles and every diver pledged to dive 150 times. The ultimate goal for the program is to raise $15,000.

Head coach, Carol Withus said, "I'm really excited about our 2nd Annual Swim-A-Thon this weekend. The team has been working hard getting sponsors for the event. We are looking forward to working together to reach our goals for the event."

Last weekend the Lady Monarchs started the season off 2-0 by beating both UNC-W and Richmond. The men's team lost in heartbreaking fashion by one point to UNC-W.

Both the men's and women's swimming and diving teams will return to competition Saturday, October 27, 2012 when they will travel to Newark, Del. to take on the Blue Hens of Delaware.
