Matt Reid accepted an assistant position with UNC Ashville. Matt Reid is in his first year at Old Dominion as an assistant coach. Reid, a graduate of the University of Richmond, served as an administrative assistant last year at Virginia Commonwealth University while obtaining his Masters degree in Sports Leadership.

Prior to working at VCU, Reid served on the coaching staffs of Virginia Military Institute and Louisburg College (NC.).

Reid played four years at the University of Richmond where he was their starting second baseman as a junior and senior. The Spiders won the CAA title in 1998 and received an atlarge berth to the NCAA in 1999 where Reid got a hit the game against top seed Wake Forest. Served as team captain as a senior.

A graduate of Collegiate High School in Richmond, Reid earned All-Prep and All- State honors, going 7-0 and hitting .460 as a senior. He graduated from Richmond in 2001 with a degree in sports administration. Reid's internship last summer with the Pittsburgh Pirates included working with baseball operations in breaking down video of upcoming opponents and in-game film.

Reid's father Jim is currently the defensive line coach at Syracuse University, and was head football coach at Richmond for nine years where he earned Conference Coach of the Year honors three times.
