He was named County Player of the Year during his senior year (2010) and was named First Team All-State. In 2010 his team was New Jersey State Runner-up...Diaz was also First Team All-County in 2009... He posted a 7-3 record with a 1.77 ERA...At Mississippi State, he had 10 strikeouts in 10 innings and was a part of the Super Regional team, in 2010-11... He also played in the Cal Ripken Collegiate Summer League with the Bethesda Big Train. His summer team was named national champions. While at Mississippi State, he earned a 3.03 GPA...
