CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA- Three pitchers scattered four hits as the University of Virginia defeated Old Dominion, 8-0 at Davenport field.

Robert Poutier, Scott Morgenthaler and Sean Doolittle held ODU to four hits with three walks and three strikeouts.

Steven Harris, Eric Mesa, Jesse Schoendienst and pinchhitter Brooks Sinnen each got a hit for the Monarchs.

The Cavaliers were led by TOm Hagan who went 3-for-3 and knocked in two runs, scored twice and hit two doubles.

ODU threatened early as the Monarchs loaded the bases with no outs but were unable to score a run and stranded all three baserunners in the top of the first inning. Steven Harris and Kieth Hahn walked, then the Cavs committed an error, but starter Robert Poutier excaped the inning.

The Monarchs return to action on Friday with a three game series at home against the Retrievers of the University of Maryland-Baltimore County. Friday's game begins at 3 p.m..
