Williamsburg, VA.-- Whitt Farr and Chris Shaver combined on a three-hit shutout to lead the Tribe of William and mary to a 4-0 CAA victory over the Monarchs Friday evening. W&M is now 20-21 overall and 3-7 in the CAA, while ODU drops to 17-19 overall and 1-8 in the CAA.

The Tribe took a 1-0 lead in the third as Ben Keeton's groundout plated Kyle Padgett who reached on a leadoff single. In the sixth, William and Mary scored three times off Monarch starter Ryan Williams (Va.Beach, Va.). Will Rhymes tripled home Tim Jones and Trey Wakefield with two outs, then Padget singled home Rhymes to make it 4-0.

ODU left ten men on base. The Monarchs threatened in the seventh with lead off runners on second and third and no outs, then loaded the bases with two outs, but did not score. In the eighth, ODU had runners on second and third, but were unable to score.

Ryan Williams was the Monarchs hard luck loser going eight innings with five strikeouts and only two walks. Whit Farr fanned eight for William and Mary and Chris Shaver finished up the last two innings with four strikeouts.

The two teams play again Saturday at Plumeri Park in Williamsburg at 4 p.m.
