NORFOLK, VA--Liberty University (21-20) scored seven runs in the first three innings to defeat Old Dominion (18-21) Wednesday evening, 11-3.

The Monarchs three runs were knocked in by Bryan Cipolla (Plainview, NY.) and Edgar Hernandez (Luguillo, PR). Hernandez doubled home Gerard Hall in the second inning, and Cipolla hit a two-run home run with Jimmy Miles (Orlando, FL.)aboard in the third inning.

The Flames were led by Cody Brown who knocked in four runs on three hits. He hit a two-run homer with Garrett Young aboard in the fifth inning. Aaron Grijalva Also had three hits for Liberty. Tyler Light pitched six innings, striking out seven And allowing three runs for his second win of the season.

David Burns (Jacksonville, FL.) led ODU with two hits while freshman Daniel Abdalla (Stevensville, MD.) pitched his longest stint for the Monarchs of 7.1 innings of relief.

ODU returns to action with a three-game CAA series this weekend against the Huskies of Northeastern. Friday's game begins at 7 p.m. at the Bud Metheny Baseball Complex.
