VCU starter Kyle Haynes (3-4) retired 10 straight batters at one stretch before walking Joey Burney to lead off the fifth inning. He fanned six and walked three on the day.

ODU starter, freshman Greg Tomchick went five scoreless innings allowing only two hits, one walk and two strikeouts in a no decision.

VCU took the 1-0 lead in the sixth inning after Jordan Weymouth's doubled with one out came around to score from second on Brent Mikionis's single.

The Rams added two more runs in the eighth on Bill Cullen's two-run homer wiht Paul Nice aboard. The hit extended Cullen's hitting streak to 19 games.

ODU breaks for exams and returns to action next weekend with a three-game CAA series in Williamsburg, VA. against William and Mary beginning Friday evening.
