    BLACKSBURG, VA.-- Addison Bowman's two run single in the sixth inning put the Hokies of Virginia Tech ahead to stay as they defeated the Monarchs of Old Dominion, 5-2 Tuesday afternoon. ODU is now 1-9, the Hokies are 2-3.

    Bowman's single scored Brad Bauder and Chris Hutchinson, breaking a two-two tie.

    Old Dominion scored two runs in the top of the first as freshman Allen Strick (Glen Burnie, Md.) slammed his first collegiate home run of the season with junior Jared Musolf (Lakehurst, NJ.) aboard. Musolf who missed the first nine games while recovering from fall knee surgery had two hits on the day.

    Joe Saunders pitched the complete game victory for Virginia Tech, scattering five hits and fanning eight.

    The two teams play again on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
