NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion University baseball team begins a five-game roadtrip with a pair of midweek games beginning on Tuesday when they square off with East Carolina at 5 p.m. at Clark-LeClair Stadium in Greenville before heading across the state to take on No. 18 North Carolina State at 6 p.m. on Wednesday in Raleigh at Doak Field.

Old Dominion (8-5) took two of three over the weekend from Northeastern in their CAA opener. Josh Eldridge and Ben Slaton his back-to-back homers in the series opener to power the Monarchs to an 11-4 victory as Jake Josephs picked up his first career win in relief. On Saturday, Ben Verlander tied the school record with three homers as he went 4-for-4 with seven RBI and a grand slam to power the Monarchs past the Huskies, 10-8.

East Carolina (9-5) is coming off a weekend where they took two of three at home against Monmouth. The Pirates hold a 42-30 advantage against the Monarchs in the all-time series. ODU has won the last meetings in Greenville (3-2 in 2012 and 7-4 in 2011). ECU will throw LHP Nick Durazo (0-0, 36.00 ERA) while ODU counters with LHP Jake Josephs (1-0, 2.16).

No. 18 NC State (12-4) dropped two of three over the weekend at home to Clemson. The Wolfpack host Quinnipiac on Tuesday before the Monarchs come to town. NCSU and ODU are tied at 17-17-1 in the all-time series. The Wolfpack won in Norfolk last season, 16-6. ODU will start LHP Andy Roberts (1-0, 1.59 ERA) while NC State's probable starter is still to be determined.
