LAKELAND, FL.-- Justin Verlander ('04) who was the number two overall pick in last year's baseball draft has been selected ot the 43rd annual Florida State League All-Star game on June 18 at Bright House Networks Field in Clearwater, FL.

Verlander is 8-2 with a 1.71 earned run average. He has 95 strikeouts in 79 innings pitched and has walked only 18 batters. He has completed two of his 12 starts. Verlander leads the league in strikeouts, and earned run average. The Lakeland Tigers lead the league at the halfway point.

Verlander completed his career at ODU with 427 strikeouts in 335.2 innings which is the all-time record at ODU, the CAA and the State of Virginia (Div. I.). He was the Alumni Association's Male Athlete of the Year, Finalist for the Roger Clemens (National pitcher of the Year) award and his career strikeout average was 11.5 per game.
