NORFOLK, VA. - Old Dominion University's Parker Friske (Va. Beach, Va.) and Travis Silver (Weaverville, NC.) signed free agent contracts. Silver to the Chicago Cubs and Friske to the Boston Red Sox. Jeff Eure (Pillow, Pa.), an 18th round selection by Milwaukee is playing for Ogden, Utah.

Friske, a lefthanded pitcher who led the Monarchs in complete games reports to Lowell, MA of the New York-Penn League. Silver, who played 30 games in rightfield and caught 16 games hit .278 with five homers and 37 runs batted in. Silver reports to Boise, ID. in the Northwest League.

Jeff Eure, a Verizon/CoSIDA Academic All-American is playing for Ogden, Utah where he got the game winning hit in the season opener last night. Eure led the Monarchs in homers with seven and runs batted in with 40.
