NORFOLK, VA-- Seniors Jimmy Miles and David Burns were both selected to the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State second team. Miles in the outfield and Burns as designated hitter.

Miles led ODU in hitting at .366. He also scored 57 runs and knocked in 40 runs. The centerfielder stole 38 bases which was the best in the CAA and ranked seventh nationally. Miles, a native of Orlando, FL., was named the team MVP.

Miles is currently playing in the Frontier League (independent team) for the Chillicothe Paints.

Burns led the Monarchs in homeruns with 12. He hit .311 with 44 runs batted in. The Jacksonville, FL., native also earned second team CoSIDA Academic All-District III as he carried a 3.88 grade point average in english.

Coach-of-the-Year honors went to James Madison's Spanky McFarland while Mike Sheridan of William and Mary was named Player of the Year, Michael Schwimer of Virginia was named pitcher of the Year and Turner Phelps of JMU was selected Rookie of the Year.
