DETROIT, MI-- Two-time All-CAA selection and 2004 first rounder Justin Verlander made his home debut in front of the Tigers fans at Comerica Park, as the starting pitcher for the United States team in the 2005 Major League Baseball Futures game.

Verlander faced four batters and retired three, allowing a double to Kendry Morales, to work one scoreless frame. The World Team won, 4-0.

On July 4th, Verlander was called up from double-A Erie by Detroit to make his Major League Debut in the second game of a doubleheader at Jacobs Field against Cleveland. He is the tenth Monarch baseball player to compete in the Major Leagues.
