Player Profile

The most consistent and prolific scorer and rebounder in Old Dominion University history, McAdoo completed his four-year career as ODU's third all-time score with 1,776 career points and fifth all-time rebounder with 953.

McAdoo's collegiate career had a firecracker beginning. The Mebane, NC, native averaged 15.2 points and 8.7 rebounds per game as a freshman. He helped lead the Monarchs to a 23-7 record. That year, ODU reached the NIT quarter-finals and beat the likes of Virginia, St. Bonaventure, Florida State, and Clemson.

"The Big Mac Attack" was named to BASKETBALL WEEKLY'S honorable mention freshman All-American squad and was the ECAC-South Upstate freshman-of-the-year.

As a sophomore, McAdoo helped lead the Monarchs to a 25-5 record and their first appearance in the NCAA Division I regionals. During the season the Monarchs knocked off the Soviet Union national team and third-ranked Syracuse. As a junior, the Monarchs defeated top-ranked DePaul in the Horizon and advanced to the NIT. For his 21-point, 16 rebound performance against DePaul, McAdoo was named ECAC and EASTERN BASKETBALL magazine's Player-of-the-Week. In 1982 ODU won the ECAC South titles and advanced to the NCAA East Regional.

While attending ODU, the Monarchs were 82-34. McAdoo was named honorable mention All-American by the Associated Press in 1980 and 1981 and by Converse in 1980. He competed for the NIT All-Stars in 1981, where he averaged 16.1 points per game. McAdoo scored a career high 33 points against George Mason and grabbed a career high 17 rebounds against Richmond.

He earned his degree is distributive education in 1982. That year he was drafted in the tenth round by the Atlanta Hawks. After a stint in the professional basketball overseas, he is now living here in Hampton Roads and is an account-executive for Pepsi Cola.
