Box Score

Norfolk, VA-Old Dominion junior Rasheed Wright (Greensboro, NC) scored a game-high 21 points to pace the Monarchs to a 68-52 CAA win over William & Mary this evening. The Monarchs improve to 10-9, 4-5 CAA. The Tribe falls to 6-11, 3-5 CAA.

The Tribe took an early 13-8 first half lead with strong inside play, but it would quickly evaporate as the Monarchs heated up from three-point range. Led by Wright and freshman Kiah Thomas (Norfolk, VA), Old Dominion shot 8-15 from beyond the arc in the first half, overtaking the Tribe and staking a 34-20 halftime lead.

The Monarchs coasted in the second frame and were challenged only once by the Green & Gold, who managed to cut the lead to 45-37 with 11:45 left. Three-straight free throws by Ricardo Marsh (Mebane, NC) and another trey by Wright ended the Tribe's hopes, however, and the Monarchs dominated for the rest of the game.

Old Dominion finished with four players scoring in double-digits. Wright led with 21, followed by Kiah Thomas with 13. Ricardo Marsh scored 12 with 6 rebounds while sophomore Clay McGowen (Westerville, OH) recorded his second career double-double, putting in 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Tribe was led by forward Adam Hess, who scored 13 on a 3-11 shooting performance.

Old Dominion shot .460 for the game compared to the Tribe's .288. The Monarchs also held a slight 37-36 edge in rebounds.

The Monarchs will hit the road for their next game, January 30 at James Madison.
