NEWARK, Del. (AP) - Mike Ames hit his first six 3-point attempts and finished with 26 points to lead Delaware to a 75-70 victory over Old Dominion on Saturday night.

The Blue Hens (10-11, 6-5 Colonial Athletic Association) won their second straight conference game and moved into sole possession of fifth place in the league.

The Monarchs (10-11, 4-7) had beaten Delaware 60-58 on Jan. 7, in Norfolk, Va., but - despite three players scoring in double figures - could not match Ames' shooting Saturday.

Both teams shot better than 50 percent from the field, but rebounding and free throws proved to be the difference. The Blue Hens outrebounded the Monarchs by 11 and outscored them by 12 from the free throw line.

The Monarchs led 47-46 with 13:55 left but the Blue Hens went on a 13-1 run to take a 59-48 lead with 10:03 left in the game.

Reserve Austen Rowland had 16 points for Delaware, while Maurice Sessoms had 10 points and Mike Slattery had seven assists.

Ricardo Marsh had 18 points for Old Dominion, while Rasheed Wright added 14 and John Waller had 11. Troy Nance dished out eight assists and committed only one turnover.

The Monarchs return to action Monday night at home when they host Towson in a 7:35 p.m. contest. The game will be televised live on Comcast Sportsnet.
