Men's Hoops Falls To VCU, 73-66

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Domonic Jones scored 21 points and Antoine Willie scored 20 to lead Virginia Commonwealth to a 73-66 victory Saturday night over Old Dominion.
Old Dominion held Virginia Commonwealth (17-8, 9-5 Colonial Athletic Association) to 15 field-goal attempts in the second half, but the Rams hit 25 of 32 free-throw attempts and led by as many as 12 in winning their 11th straight at home.
The Monarchs (10-13, 4-9) were held under 33 percent shooting from the floor and missed 23 of 30 field goals in the second half. The Monarchs led, 21-19 with 7:33 left in the first half on a basket by Clay McGowen, but Antoine Willies trey with 1:08 left game the rams a 33-30 halftime lead.
Willie Taylor scored 17 points for the Rams, hitting 10 of 12 from the free-throw line.
Ricardo Marsh led the Monarchs with 15 points, John Waller added 14 and Rasheed Wright and Kiah Thomas each added 10. ODU outrebounded VCU, 43-33.
The loss was Old Dominion's fourth straight and sixth in seven games. The Monarchs
travel to Philadelphia, for a Monday night game at Drexel. gametime is 7:00 p.m.
