NORFOLK, VA - Freshman center Alex Loughton (Perth, Australia) notched his first career double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds as the Old Dominion men's basketball team (2-4) recorded a 82-62 victory over the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore (0-6) Saturday night at the Ted Constant Convocation Center.

Junior John Waller (Richmond, VA), who scored five of ODU's first six points, hit the game's first basket at 18:16 to give the Monarchs a lead they would never relinquish. They would build a 13-point lead by the end of the first half and head into the locker room up 34-21.

In the second half the Hawks came out utilizing the full court press and went on a 8-0 run to cut the lead to five, 34-29, with 18:32 remaining. However, the Monarchs would adjust and go up by 17, 52-35, after a Kiah Thomas (Norfolk, VA) three pointer at 11:08. They would remain in control of the game and lead by as much as 22 in the second half.

Rasheed Wright (Greensboro, NC) led Old Dominion in scoring for the fifth time with 16 points. Tee Trotter had a game-high 21 points for the visitors.

In all ODU had five players score in double figures as senior Ricardo Marsh (Mebane, NC) dropped in 13 points to go with his seven boards, while Thomas added 10. Freshman guard Isaiah Hunter (Charlotte, NC) had a career-high 14 points with six rebounds and three assists. John Morris (Camp Hill, PA) contributed a career-high six assists in 22 minutes.

Old Dominion returns to action on Friday as ODU alum Oliver Purnell brings his Dayton Flyers to the Ted Constant Convocation Center for a match-up at 7:00 p.m.
