Junior Marcus Drewry (Evanston, IL.) Missed the first half of the season recovering from surgery to repair an unhaled stress fracture in his right foot. Drewry was
born in nearby Portsmouth, VA.. His mother Karen was a Virginia High School League
All-Star. She once scored 68 points in a game, and in 1988 helped Hampton University
win the NCAA Div. II National Championship. She is HU's fourth all-time assist leader
with 352.

TROY NANCE CAA PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Troy Nance was named CAA Player of the Week on Dec. 17. He scored a career high
18 points (14 in the second half) with 7 assists and four steals in the Monarchs 81-67
victory over Coastal Carolina.
GREENE, THE FIRST TO GRADUATE : When Pierre Greene receives his diploma
in May, he will be the first in his family to do so. The Senior guard Pierre Greene was selected to the CAA pre-season men's basketball All-CAA team by the league's head coaches and media in attendance at media day on Oct. 31 in Baltimore, MD. As a team, the Monarchs were picked to finish seventh. He has 803 career points.
WALK-ON'S:
The Monarchs have two walk-ons in sophomore Andreas Themistocleous (Nicosia,
Cyprus) and junior Samir Hickson (Collegeville, Pa.). Themistocoleous appeared in
15 games last year, including a career high seven points against Taylor's Stanford
squad in the Puerto Rico Shootout. Hickson got into the Coastal Carolina game.

GLOBAL SPECTRUM TO MANAGE CONSTANT CENTER
Old Dominion University has selected the Philadelphia based firm Global Spectrum
to manage the 8,600 seat Constant Convocation Center, which is slated to open in late fall of 2002. The highly regarded company provides management for public assembly
facilities across the country, most notably the First Union Center, which is home to the
NBA's Philadelphia 76ers, as well as facilities at Temple, South Carolina and Rhode
Island.
CENTER CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:
* General Contractor, S.B. Ballard is ahead of schedule
* Construction is over 55% complete.
* The arena roof long span trusses that will support a four-sided scoreboard
With jumbo-tron video screens on each side have been installed.
* Installation of the sound attenuating arena steal roof decking has begun. This
System will help improve the quality and clarity of the sound system.
* The building is expected to be completely weather tight by March.

Virginia Tech was held to .298 shooting, the lowest since ODU held American
to .259 shooting in 1996. The Hokies scored 19 points in the first half, the lowest since VMI was held to11 in 1982. ECU shot .333 Only Hampton has shot over 50 percent.
