John Waller's trey at the buzzer lifts ODU to victory. Rasheed Wright led the
Monarchs with 20 points and six rebounds. Ricardo Marsh scored 16 and hauled in
nine boards. ODU shot .441 from the floor. Drexel was led by Robert Battle with
20 points nine rebounds and eight blocked shots. Eric Schmieder scored 13 and came
up with six steals. Drexel shot .490 from the floor. ODU was 9-8/6-3.

Eric Schmieder scored 18 points, grabbed eight rebounds and Phil Goss added 14
points to lead the Dragons. Robert Battle scored nine with eight rebounds. ODU
was led by John Waller with 14 points and a career high 11 rebounds. Rasheed
Wright scored 11 points and Ricardo Marsh scored eight with nine boards. ODU shot
.365 from the floor.

THIS DAY IN MONARCH HISTORY
March 8, 1992, ODU knocks off Richmond in the CAA semi-finals, 62-58.
March 9, 1992, Keith Jackson scored 19 and Ricardo Leonard added 18 to lead the
Monarchs to a 78-73 victory over James Madison in their first CAA Title game.
March 10, 1999, Cal Bowdler scored 14 points, hauled in 20 rebounds and Mark
Poag hit for 27 points to lead ODU to a 75-56 NIT victory over Seton Hall. The
game was played in the ODU fieldhouse.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS:
Jan. 21. Ricardo Marsh shares the honor with UNCW's Craig Callahan. Marsh
averaged 28.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals during the week against Delaware
and Hofstra. He scored a career high 30 points vs Delaware and 27 vs. Hofstra.
Jan. 14, Senior Rasheed Wright who averaged 17.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.5
steals in ODU's victories over UNC Wilmington and William and Mary was named
CAA Player of the Week.
A ROOKIE OF THE WEEK HONORS:
Jan. 27th, freshman Isaiah Hunter averaged 12 points, 2.5 rebounds and 3.5
Assists in ODU's wins over GMU and JMU. He scored a career high 17 against
the Patriots.
Nov. 25th, freshman Alex Loughton who grabbed eight rebounds and scored 13 points against North Carolina, was named CAA Rookie of the Week. Feb. 18th, was again
named Rookie of the Week after 13 points and 9 rebs vs. UNCW and 13 pts and six
rebounds vs. Towson.

Odell Hodge ('97) is only one of 75 Division I players to score over 2,000 points
and haul in over 1,000 career rebounds. He scored 2117 career points and hauled in
1086 career rebounds. The only other players in Virginia Collegiate Div. I history to
do so are Ralph Sampson (Virginia) with 2225 points and 1511 rebounds,
Kenny Sanders (George Mason) with 2177 points and 1026 rebounds, and Jeff Cohen
(William and Mary) 2003 points, 1380 rebounds.
Oliver Purnell ('75) has been named assistant coach for the 2003 USA Basketball
Men's Senior National Team which will participate in the 2003 FIBA Americas
Qualification Tournament for the 2004 Olympic games. Larry Brown will serve as
head coach.
Mike Jones ('95) is the new interim head basketball coach at DeMatha High School in
Maryland.
