Ricardo Marsh to play in the PIT
April 3, 2003 Ricardo Marsh of Old Dominion University (named to the All-CAA Team) joins Matt Bonner of the University of Florida (named to the First Team - All SEC); Clemson's Edward Scott (named to the First Team -All ACC on March 11); Henry Domercant of Eastern Illinois (the second leading scorer in the country); Steve Blake of the University of Maryland (who was named to the First Team - All ACC on March 11); Matt Carroll of Notre Dame; and Brett Blizzard of the University of North Carolina - Wilmington (who for the second year in a row, was named CAA Player of the Year) in accepting invitations to play in the 2003 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament. ABOUT THE PIT: The 51st Annual Portsmouth Invitational Tournament is the nation's oldest amateur basketball tournament, recognized by NBA and European scouts as the premier showcase for hot prospects. WHEN: April 9-12. ADMISSION: Tickets are $8 per night or $25 for all 11 games of the tournament. (NOTE: Thursday and Friday afternoon consolation games are FREE!) Tickets available through all Ticketmaster outlets and through the Willett Hall box office. WHERE: All games held in the gymnasium of Churchland High School, 4301 Cedar Lane, Portsmouth. WHY: The money raised by the tournament is funneled to local non-profit organizations and scholarships to deserving high school student-athletes. The PIT has raised over $450,000 in contributions to these causes over the years, and a total of 90 PIT scholarships have been awarded.
