ATHENS, Greece-- Yesterday ODU played with only five players and today with only six, losing to the Filathlikos Club Team, 89-66 at the Zografos Stadium. This was the fourth and final game of the Monarchs European tour of Italy and Greece as they finished with a 3-1 record. The Monarchs had to play shorthanded the last two games because the squad came down with intestinal virus symptoms.

Junior Donte Hill led the Monarchs with a team high 19 points, followed by Jason Pimentel with 15, Nick Wright with 12, and Dimitri Batten with 10.

"Tonight after playing back-to-back days with a depleted roster we ran out of gas against a pretty good team, " said ODU's Blaine Taylor. "The second quarter really hurt us as they got quite of few second chance baskets, especially from three-point range. It would have been nice to have our young guards available to experience this contest as well as a couple more of our big kids."

Filathlikos shot .569 (23-41) in the first half, including 9-17 from three-point range to race from a 21-19 first quarter lead to a 58-29 halftime lead. They finished the game shooting .442 from the floor and outrebounded ODU, 45-37. The Monarchs shot. 396 (23-58) from the floor.

Janis Antetokoubo led Filathlikos with 21 points, including five-for- nine three-point shooting. Vasilidos Gianoulakis dominated the boards with a game high 18. Four players for Filathlikos scored in double figures.

Nick Wright led ODU with 10 rebounds, followed by Jason Pimentel and freshman Ekene Anachebe with eight each. In addition to his 19 points, Donte Hill dished out six assists and came up with five steals.

The Monarchs return to Hampton Roads from the 10-day trip Friday evening.
