NORFOLK, Va. (AP) (December 29) -- Andre McCullum and Skipper Youngblood scored 14 and 13 points repsectively, but it wasn't enough as Norfolk State topped Old Dominion 67-64.

Freddie Bryant missed a pair of free throws that could have tied the game with six seconds left as Norfolk State defeated Old Dominion 67-64 Wednesday night.

Bryant was not the only Old Dominion player who missed foul shots. The Monarchs (4-8) made just 19 of 38 shots from the free-throw line.

The Spartans trailed 42-33 with 16:29 left in the game but tied it on a Dion Dove layup with 5:27 left. Norfolk State took the lead for good on a Will Brooks jump shot with 2:27 left.

Damian Woolfolk led the Spartans with 15 points. Andre McCullum led Old Dominion with 14.

The teams committed a combined 50 fouls in the game, including 27 by the visiting Spartans. The win over ODU was Norfolk State's first since 1974, when they defeated the Monarchs in the NCAA Div. II South Atlantic Regional. It was also the Monarchs first loss to a MEAC squad. Old Dominion hosts George Washington Monday night at 7:35 p.m. in the fieldhouse.
