NORFOLK, Va. -- Old Dominion head football coach Bobby Wilder addressed the participants of the 27th Annual Norfolk Senior Olympics at the game's opening ceremonies on Wednesday at Rockwell Hall on the Little Creek Amphibious Base.

The Senior Games competition is an Olympic-style sports event that promotes healthy lifestyles for seniors through fitness, sports, active lifestyle, and athletic competition.

"It was inspiring to meet so many seniors that enjoy physical fitness, as well as the competition of the games," said Wilder. "Getting an opportunity to visit with the seniors and hear some great stories made for an exciting event. Many of the competitors I spoke with are Old Dominion football fans and were very excited with our success this past season. I was honored to be able to represent Old Dominion University and our football program as the featured speaker for the Senior Olympics."

More than 1,000 citizens are expected to participate in competition at the Ocean View Golf Course, Norfolk Fitness and Wellness Center, AMF Norfolk Lanes bowling center and the Naval Amphibious Base in Virginia Beach.
